FAQs

Why not make a film myself?

The process of producing a film project requires a lot of time and expertise. Working with Cinema of Life helps it go faster and smoother, and ensures the project will get done in a timely way with a professional result.  Combining project management with top-notch technology and talent, Cinema of Life has the complete package to turn your valuable stories into the documentary of a lifetime.

What product do I get for the price?

Every documentary and slideshow package we offer includes:

  • a leather case containing a custom labeled DVD in a custom DVD case.
  • two additional DVDs
  • a password protected high definition online version of your film to share with friends and family around the world

Optional services include: Bluray HD discs of your film, a theater premiere of your film, additional interviews, and archival film footage and photographs.

How long does it take to complete a project?

The interviews and collecting/digitizing photographs each will take between a few hours to a full day.  After we capture the footage and receive your family's photos, your slideshow will be ready in a couple of days, while a film will be ready in 3-8 weeks depending on the length of the project.

How do I best prepare for the film?

Prior to our first meeting, collect as many photographs, documents, and mementos as possible.  Try to organize chronologically, and reflect on what you would like to include in the film.  We will walk you and your family through the process and prepare everyone for the filming.

What do I do if I don't have digital photographs?

While having digital photographs makes the process faster, we will digitize, restore, and enhance your old photographs.

What about selecting music for the documentary or slideshow?

Music is incredibly important for any film, so during our consultation we will discuss what type of music is best for your project.  As for music licensing, we can secure licensed or stock music for an additional cost. We are glad to include any music that you provide with the understanding that the use of that music conveys no rights of usage should you wish to put that video on the Internet or other broadcast medium.

Will I receive the full, unedited interviews?

We will turn hours of interviews into a refined film. For an additional fee, we can also include the full-length interview footage with your DVD.

What technology do you use?

We shoot all interviews in 1080p high definition, and we utilize professional lavalier and boom microphones to capture sound.  Our editing systems include the entire suite of Adobe Production Premium and Final Cut Pro software.  We're able to produce custom labeled DVDs and DVD cases, as well as high definition Bluray discs.
